  • 7 DAYS BEFORE Avoid Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve (NSAIDS) and herbal supplements, such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules

  • 48 HOURS BEFORE No alcoholic beverages.
  • 24 HOURS BEFORE Ensure you are well-hydrated in preparation for your treatment.

Day of Your Treatment

  • Please come to the office without clean hair (no gels, creams, or hairsprays).
  • To maximize your comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic may be applied.
  • A small amount of your blood will be drawn, similar to a routine blood test.
  • Your blood will be placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. After a heating and cooling process, the plasma forms a fibrin matrix, which is then injected into target treatment areas of the scalp.

What to Expect

  • You may experience redness and tenderness at the treatment site(s) that can last a few hours to a few days.
  • Bruising may occur in the treated areas.
  • Depending on the area(s) treated, you may feel “firmness” for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment, which will soften and settle over time.

After Your Procedure

  • Sleep on your back with a clean pillowcase.
  • You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience mild tenderness or discomfort.
  • Apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) to help reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid placing excessive pressure on the treated area(s) for the first few days; be gentle when washing your scalp.
  • Avoid exercise or strenuous activities for the remainder of the treatment day; you may resume other normal activities immediately.

Contact Our Office

  • If your side effects worsen or persist for longer than 2 weeks.

After Your Procedure

  • 4-6 weeks after each treatment.
